HD-4884 is again with a brand new single, “Fleur à La Mort,” his first official launch since a life-threatening incident left him bedridden again in 2022.

The observe’s title aptly interprets from French to “flower of demise,” an idea that arose amid a interval of existential dread for the virtuosic producer and visible designer.

“The previous three years has been an important turning level in my life, experiencing demise, dropping two of my finest associates (my grandparents), the abandonment from my household, the monetary hardship of pushing ahead creatively, the ups and downs of the world, and worst of all of the isolation of social media,” HD-4884 wrote in a candid Instagram submit.

“I’ve determined previously few weeks that due to this and I wanted to only be…. Me,” he continues. “The questions of Who am I? Why am I right here for? Is that this proper? The fixed chatter of self doubt and isolation… all of it wanted to cease.”

Hospital beds make unlikely recording studios, however his three-year absence apparently doubled as a masterclass in gothic digital music.

The haunting “Fleur à La Mort” is out now in collaboration with Crywolf, whose voice may make a grocery checklist sound apocalyptic. His vocals navigate the manufacturing like a scalpel by satin, delivering whispered French lyrics and contours about “pretty beasts” and “bag knives” with informal menace.

In the meantime, HD-4884’s determination to carry out practically each instrument himself pays dividends in cohesion, making a spellbinding sound that breathes as one organism. It’s “alt-EDM” that truly earns its hyphen by balancing dancefloor momentum with art-house pretension.

“Fleur à La Mort” is out now through CTRL: Database Analysis, a brand new collective and file label launched by HD-4884. You’ll be able to take a look at the observe’s official visualizer beneath and discover it on streaming platforms here.
