Canadian deathcore trailblazers Despised Icon returns from the shadows with Shadow Work, their first full-length album in six years. Set for launch on October 31, 2025 by way of Nuclear Blast Information, the band’s seventh studio effort finds them at their most refined and ferocious — a masterclass in balancing blistering pace, huge grooves, and visceral melody.

To mark the announcement, the band has unleashed the album’s lead single, “Over My Lifeless Physique”, a punishing anthem that options Matt Honeycutt of Kublai Khan TX. Mixing atmospheric dread with a bone-shattering breakdown, the observe is an unflinching declaration of defiance, function, and unrelenting self-belief.

Despised Icon frontman Alex Erian shared the next on the band’s long-awaited return: “Though our first jam dates again to the autumn of 2000, it wasn’t till 2002 that we began enjoying reveals and placing out music. From day one, Despised Icon has all the time caught to a ‘if it’s not prepared, it’s not prepared’ mindset with all the things we create.

“Quick ahead nearly six years since our final album Purgatory, and never a lot has modified. We’ve taken our time as soon as once more, and now we’re lastly prepared to show the web page and launch what we really feel is our most fine-tuned and dynamic file up to now — staying grounded within the sound and spirit we helped outline. We are able to’t wait to share new music with you all very quickly.”

Tommy Jones, Nuclear Blast’s American Label Supervisor & A&R, echoed the joy: “The wait was properly value it! This can be a improbable album and I can’t look ahead to the world to listen to it in its entirety. Nice issues come out of the shadows.”

Shadow Work was produced by Alex Erian and Eric Jarrin, with mixing and mastering dealt with by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy). The album’s paintings comes from famend illustrator Eliran Kantor (Hatebreed, Thy Artwork Is Homicide, Sigh, Cavalera, and so on.).
