The Mill’s June 2025 expansion, incorporating a vacant warehouse loft at its Angas Street location, solidifies its position as South Australia’s largest studio precinct for artists and creatives. This addition has enabled the multidisciplinary arts organization to grow, now housing over 70 artist studios.

While demand for affordable studios has always been strong, The Mill CEO/Artistic Director Katrina Lazaroff believes the organisation’s wrap-around support, diverse artistic program and bustling creative community are what set The Mill apart from other studio and co-working spaces.

“At The Mill, we have built a community where artists and creatives truly belong. A place where artists and creatives of all disciplines connect, inspiring each other and the audiences who visit,” she says.

“We nurture grass roots, locally-made work, and support South Australian creatives to stay in Adelaide. We are thrilled to be expanding our studio offering to welcome more artists to be part of our thriving community.”

The new expansion not only adds to the sustainability of the not-for-profit organisation, The Mill General Manager Tim Watts says it also significantly adds to the artistic culture in Adelaide’s CBD.

“Creative spaces like The Mill are integral to the cultural fabric of a city. They contribute greatly to liveability, and bring important economic benefits to their neighbourhoods,” he says.

“In The Mill’s 12 years at Angas Street, we’ve impacted thousands of creative careers, and brought new experiences to audiences and city dwellers. We hope to continue our growth well into the future.”

Expressions of interest have opened for 15 new warehouse studios, open to artists and makers trying to take the subsequent step of their creative follow. Studios are priced from $85 to $140 and vary from 11sqm to 28sqm in measurement.

Studio Tours are each fortnight, alternating Tuesdays, 11am, and Fridays, 4:30pm.
