Following a disturbing viral video of an assault at a RÜFÜS DU SOL concert, Pasadena police have arrested the suspect. Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala, 23, was taken into custody at his Hawthorne house, charged with a number of assault and battery counts.
Authorities confirmed to TMZ that Zavala’s arrest for felony battery with nice bodily harm, felony assault with nice bodily harm, and misdemeanor battery, stemming from a violent incident on the Rose Bowl on August 16, 2025. The costs had been confirmed in a report back to the Los Angeles County District Lawyer’s Workplace.
As previously reported on EDMTunes, the surprising incident occurred in the course of the band’s sold-out present on August 16, when a person violently punched Shelby Elston unconscious following a spilled drink altercation. The disturbing second was caught on video and shortly went viral throughout social media.
RÜFÜS DU SOL issued a heartfelt assertion on Instagram shortly after the information broke, condemning the violence and expressing their dedication to secure areas at their exhibits. The submit reads:
We’re shocked and saddened to study in regards to the mindless act of violence that occurred throughout our Rose Bowl present this weekend. This conduct is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated at our exhibits. We’re working intently with native authorities to assist in the investigation.
