Alabama Shakes are again with their first new track in a decade. “Another Life” is the rock trio’s first unique observe for the reason that 2015 album Sound & Color—and their debut single for brand spanking new label residence Island. Hearken to it beneath.
“Once I wrote ‘One other Life,’ I used to be desirous about all of the lives we stock,” Shakes vocalist and guitarist Brittany Howard shared in a press release. “Those we’re residing proper now, those that slipped away due to completely different selections, the what ifs, the what wasn’t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the possibility encounters that really feel divine. This track is about these threads and the way they stretch throughout time and house, connecting each model of who we’re. It’s about letting them come collectively, letting them harmonize, and realizing that goodbye isn’t actually goodbye. It’s extra like I’ll so long. A collective story that by no means stops unfolding. I’m glad we opened this door into this actuality of us making music collectively once more.”
Alabama Shakes—the trio of Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell—went on official hiatus in 2018. Since then, Howard has launched two solo albums below her personal title: 2019’s Jaime and 2023’s What Now. The band are presently within the midst of their first tour since 2017, which can proceed via the top of September.
