Björk is the newest artist to affix the “No Music for Genocide” mass Israel boycott, making her catalog of music unavailable on Israeli streaming companies.

The Icelandic singer now stands alongside the likes of Massive Attack, Hayley Williams and Paramore, Kneecap, Japanese Breakfast, Fontaines D.C. and a whole lot extra artists who’re at the moment geo-blocking their music in Israel.

In response to the No Music for Genocide website, the initiative’s mission is “in response to Israel’s genocide in Gaza; ethnic cleaning of the Occupied West Financial institution; apartheid inside Israel / ’48; political repression of Professional-Palestine efforts wherever we reside; and the music trade’s personal ties to weapons and crimes towards humanity.”

Whereas Björk has but to challenge an announcement about her participation within the Israel boycott, she has proven her help for Palestine up to now, together with a November 2023 Instagram post of maps exhibiting territorial adjustments between Palestine and Israel through the years with the caption, “is that this what you name sharing ?”

The singer has let her emotions concerning the streaming service Spotify be recognized, calling it “in all probability the worst factor that has occurred to musicians.”

Earlier this yr, Björk debuted her live performance movie Cornucopia in theaters world wide, which will likely be adopted by a physical release subsequent month.
