Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in association with Woodward Productions has announced a revival of Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical Little Shop of Horrors would open for enterprise within the Cremorne Theatre from 3 January 2026.

With Music by Alan Menken and Ebook and Lyrics by Howard Ashman, since its premiere at Off-Off-Broadway in 1982, Little Store of Horrors has enraptured thousands and thousands of theatregoers worldwide and was tailored into a movie in 1986 starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene and Steve Martin.

At the hours of darkness comedy musical, nerdy florist Seymour Krelborn stumbles upon a brand new breed of plant at Mushnik’s flailing flower store on Skid Row. Naming it ‘Audrey II’ after his co-worker crush, Seymour quickly discovers the foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore plant has sinister intentions.

The long-awaited revival might be directed by Alister Smith, who has realised musical diversifications of different cult classics like Deliver It On, Merciless Intentions and The Wedding ceremony Singer.

Music Supervisor David Younger (Frozen) and Musical Director Heidi Loveland (Carrie: The Musical) will lead a six-piece band by way of Little Store of Horrors’ mix of 60s pop, doo-wop and R&B, delivering unforgettable earworms like ‘All of a sudden Seymour’, ‘Feed Me (Git It)’ and ‘Dentist!’.

Designer Penny Challen, Lighting Designer Declan O’Neil and Choreographer Dan Venz will illuminate the gleeful attract of the American Dream in Nineteen Sixties New York, B-Film kitsch and significant silliness that’s synonymous with Little Store of Horrors.

Woodward Productions Founder and Producer Alex Woodward stated he was excited to convey a brand new model of Little Store of Horrors with its authentic magic again to QPAC after 10 years.

“Once I noticed Little Store of Horrors at QPAC, it was one of many first exhibits I’d seen that had me fully rapt, so count on to see every little thing audiences have identified and liked about this present for greater than 40 years – suppose elaborate plant puppetry and a deranged dentist,” stated Mr Woodward.

QPAC Chief Govt Rachel Healy stated the Off-Broadway favorite was nicely overdue for a return to the QPAC stage.

“It’s uncommon to see a full-scale musical in an intimate venue just like the Cremorne, however this setting is good for a global hit that had humble beginnings in a small, downtown theatre,” stated Ms Healy. “Its quirky, playful theatrical insanity makes it good summer time vacation fare.”

The complete solid for the QPAC season of Little Store of Horrors might be introduced quickly.

Tickets for Little Store of Horrors are on sale now at qpac.com.au.
