Tourist Dives into Trance Territory With 6th Studio Album, ‘Music Is Invisible’

GRAMMY-winning producer and songwriter Vacationer (William Phillips) has simply launched Music Is Invisible, his sixth studio album. Out now by means of Queens Street Music / AndRECORDS / Atlantic Information, the 11-track challenge is his clearest transfer but into high-energy trance territory.

After spending the previous few years leaning into introspective, downtempo digital work, Vacationer flips the script right here. The file is constructed on driving 140-BPM rhythms, layered synth arpeggios, and lengthy, euphoric breakdowns that really feel designed for warehouse programs relatively than headphones.

The album begins with ‘Invisible‘ ft. Julianna Barwick, a protracted, dreamy monitor full of soppy vocals and heat chords that slowly carry you up. Then ‘Exterior’ hits laborious with quick arpeggios and a catchy vocal chop that bounces round. ‘Embrace‘ brings large supersaw melodies and a driving bassline that makes you need to transfer. ‘The Mild In Others‘ retains the power with shiny, scattered synths that really feel heat and open. ‘Sparks’ is tighter and punchier, with sharp drums and a lead that retains flickering out and in. Julianna Barwick comes again on ‘Capricorn,’ a calmer monitor along with her ethereal voice over a gentle, chilled beat. ‘In Unison‘ is the toughest one—quick, aggressive, and constructed for giant rooms with an enormous drop. ‘Love In Silence‘ ft. Actual Lies provides spoken vocals and a darker, cruising vibe. ‘Veil‘ goes straight again to full-speed trance with that Grimes pattern chopped over a relentless kick. The album ends with ‘Protector (Reprise)‘—simply quiet piano and gentle reversed sounds that fade the whole lot out gently.
