Vocalist Lukas Magyar has confirmed his exit from progressive metalcore act Veil of Maya.

The group has been on hiatus since September 2024, following the band’s co-headlining billing on the 2024 Summer time Slaughter Tour. On the time, guitarist Marc Okubo took on the position of touring guitarist for alt-metal act Falling in Reverse, leaving Veil of Maya’s rapid future unsure (although the band had vowed to return in some unspecified time in the future).

Within the meantime, Magyar shifted gears to deal with his solo venture, SIFYN, and altered his Instagram bio to take away any references to being the singer of Veil of Maya. When requested just lately by an Instagram follower if followers would see him fronting Veil of Maya once more sooner or later, Magyar confirmed his departure: “should you do, it gained’t be with me. I made a decision to half methods and deal with SIFYN.”

“VOM no extra?” learn one other remark, to which Magyar replied: “I needed to step away and deal with different issues.”

Magyar joined the long-running Chicago band in 2014, acting on their previous three studio albums: Matriarch (2015), False Idol (2017), and [M]different (2023). Below his SIFYN moniker, the singer has launched the 2022 full-length Marionette, in addition to the 2024 one-off single “The Finest Issues.”

In the meantime, there’s been no replace from the Veil of Maya camp since a January 2025 publish from Okubo that learn: “When veil comes again will probably be the heavy model” (as reported by The PRP). Looking back, Okubo’s remark may need alluded to Magyar’s impending exit, with Okubo referencing VOM’s pre-Magyar, early years after they primarily performed deathcore.
