Charlotte Cornfield has signed to Merge Data, the Toronto singer-songwriter introduced on Tuesday, January 13. Hurts Like Hell, her sixth album and first on the label, arrives March 27. Along with Meek, Cornfield recruited Feist, Christian Lee Hutson, and Maia Friedman to sing backup throughout the follow-up to her 2023 alt-folk undertaking Could Have Done Anything. Hurts Like Hell was produced by Philip Weinrobe.
In 2025, Secretly Group—the group behind Useless Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Saddest Manufacturing unit, and Secretly Canadian—acquired a 50 p.c stake in Merge.
