Ballet is an art form built on precision, discipline, and evolution. Just as dancers continually refine their technique, Capezio has once again reimagined the ballet slipper to meet the demands of today’s studios and stages. The result is The Motion – an innovative, sustainable, and beautifully engineered ballet slipper created to move as naturally as the dancer.

Inspired by the idea of creating a shoe with dancers, for dancers, Senior Product Designer Jamila Cherif led the design process alongside Product Testing Coordinator Lesley Mealor, who guided the fit development. Working closely with dancers, they ensured every detail was crafted to elevate performance and comfort.

“The Motion is designed to mimic the natural movements of the right and left feet,” explains Mealor. “We wanted to respect the dancers’ need for comfort and aesthetics by designing a ballet shoe that not only makes your foot look beautiful, but also supports the high-level work of ballet dancers.”

The Motion is more than just another ballet flat – it’s Capezio’s answer to dancers’ needs. Designed to feel like a second skin, it withstands the demands of daily training while accentuating the natural beauty of the foot. It’s the fine art of balancing innovation with tradition.

At first glance, The Motion retains the elegance of a traditional ballet slipper, but look closer and the innovation is clear. Crafted with a 100% polyester knitted upper, it delivers breathability, durability, and antimicrobial properties – lasting up to three times longer than canvas. The four-way stretch knit gently compresses the foot, offering support that feels almost like shapewear.

Its split sole construction features repositioned sole patches, designed to support anatomical movement and optimise body weight distribution. For the first time, Capezio has introduced a designated right and left foot, giving dancers a slipper that truly mirrors and supports the body’s natural alignment. An extended front sole enhances comfort, while pre-sewn crisscross elastic and elastic binding eliminate the need for drawstrings, offering a sleek, no-fuss fit.

Capezio has also woven sustainability into the design process. The Motion is crafted from 100% vegan materials and uses 50% fewer resources than traditional ballet slippers, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. Its breathable, moisture-wicking fabric keeps feet cool and dry – ideal for long hours in class, rehearsal, or teaching.

Available in classic light pink and black, The Motion is suited for dancers of all levels. Women should begin with their street shoe size, while men are advised to start two sizes up. The Motion Ballet Slipper is a fresh, updated approach for today’s dancers. “The Motion was created by listening to dancers who wanted a modern shoe that moves with them,” says Claire Yarnton, Capezio Retail and Product Manager, and Pointe Shoe Specialist. “It’s not here to replace the traditional ballet slipper, but to evolve it. The Motion Ballet Slipper is a fresh, updated approach for today’s dancers, from pre-professionals to teachers.”

From pre-professionals seeking durability to teachers needing all-day comfort, The Motion provides an option that honours ballet tradition while embracing modern design and sustainability.

Capezio’s legacy of innovation continues – and with The Motion, the future of ballet footwear is already here. Feel the difference. Step into the future of dance!
