New Orleans rapper and bounce queen Big Freedia has introduced her first gospel album. Pressing Onward, which takes its title from the Pressing Onward Baptist Church, in New Orleans, is out August 8. “I’ve been ready my complete profession to make this album,” Large Freedia mentioned in a press release. “The church at all times spoke to me: the drama, the choir, and the apparel. We’re in unsure instances. I’m hoping followers can get some religion and hope from this album.”
Large Freedia wrote Urgent Onward as a option to mirror on her lifelong connection to gospel music after becoming a member of her church choir at age 10. Additional deepening its themes of affection, hope, and acceptance is her option to dedicate the album to Devon Hurst, her associate who died this previous Could.
