Bruce Springsteen has launched a protest music denouncing President Donald J. Trump and the “non-public military” of his Division of Homeland Safety, within the wake of ICE’s killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis. Hearken to “Streets of Minneapolis” beneath.

    Springsteen shared the next assertion:

I wrote this music on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and launched it to you right this moment in response to the state terror being visited on town of Minneapolis. It’s devoted to the folks of Minneapolis, our harmless immigrant neighbors and in reminiscence of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

    Keep free, Bruce Springsteen

The rallying full-band music memorializes Pretti and Good in verses that pull no punches on the crimes of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Trump’s federal thugs beat up on his face and his chest,” Springsteen sings. “Then we heard the gunshots, and Alex Pretti lay within the snow, useless.”

A stirring chorus closes the music:

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Singing by means of the bloody mist
Right here in our house they killed and roamed
    Within the winter of ’26
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst

Earlier this month, Springsteen dedicated a rendition of “The Promised Land” to Good throughout an impromptu look at a New Jersey pageant, telling the group: “In case you consider in democracy, in liberty; should you consider that fact nonetheless issues, and that it’s value talking out, and it’s value combating for; should you consider within the energy of the legislation and that nobody stands above it; should you stand towards closely armed, masked, federal troops invading American cities, and utilizing Gestapo ways towards our fellow residents; should you consider you don’t need to be murdered for exercising your American proper to protest; then ship a message to this president. And because the mayor of that metropolis has stated, ICE ought to get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”

One other impassioned speech in protest of Trump’s “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,” given final 12 months at a present in Manchester, England, was captured on a live EP launched per week later.
