The sprawling expanse of the American heartland is many issues: picturesque as it’s desolate, acquainted as it’s alien. Few landscapes embody such stark contrasts, and it is no marvel that the countless highways and forgotten cities of the deep countryside have lengthy been synonymous with post-apocalyptic imagery.

Whereas the agricultural decay of so-called “Flyover Nation” carries a bleak horror, there’s additionally a tragic stillness and sweetness inside it — a paradox that Oklahoma noise rockers Chat Pile and Texas-born, Oklahoma-based guitarist and composer Hayden Pedigo masterfully seize on their upcoming collaborative LP, In The Earth Once more.

The file, due out October 31, 2025, unravels unexplored layers of complexity for each artists. On the floor, Pedigo‘s fingerpicked acoustic meditations and Chat Pile‘s abrasive noise rock appear worlds aside, but the 2 share extra in widespread than initially meets the attention. Each are residents of rural America with a style for the unusual and the eclectic. Their paths first crossed in Oklahoma Metropolis’s underground/DIY artwork scene following Pedigo’s relocation, forming a friendship that finally crystallized right into a daring inventive collaboration.

In The Earth Once more allowed every act to experiment past their established boundaries. For Chat Pile, it was an opportunity to discover moodier preparations, embrace tape and pattern manipulation, and ship a number of the most intimate and private lyrics of their profession. For Pedigo, the collaboration offered the chance to reframe his usually tranquil, atmospheric nation soundscapes with one thing extra sinister and metallic, whereas retaining their evocative emotional core.

“All of us wished to keep away from the downfall you see in a whole lot of collab data,” explains Pedigo. “We did not need this file to both find yourself primarily sounding like considered one of us greater than the opposite.”

Chat Pile bassist Stin provides: “For the album, each choice made was in assist of one another’s concepts and ensuring that every part we did was in service of a higher imaginative and prescient.”

The primary single, “Radioactive Goals,” provides a glimpse into that imaginative and prescient, shifting between rustic tones, snarling aggression, and moments of tragic catharsis.

Framed via a unfastened however ever-present narrative soaked in apocalyptic subtext, In The Earth Once more paints a portrait of societal collapse — from the brutality of an energetic apocalypse to the eerie stillness that lingers in its aftermath. Throughout its thirty-six minutes, the file cycles between haunted magnificence and unflinching aggression, embodying each the violence and quiet of a dying world.
