Since their formation in 2017, Cosmic Reaper have carried a black-flamed torch of doom and sludge, mixing a uncooked Southern swing with amplifier-worshipping heaviness. Rooted within the traditions of Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus, but touched by the textured aggression of Soundgarden and the chaotic depth of Snapcase, the Charlotte-based quartet carve out their very own sonic ritual: bass-heavy grooves, fuzzed-out riffs, and ethereal vocals that channel each mysticism and menace.
The band’s 2021 self-titled debut made waves for its cataclysmic environment and onerous rock-tinged doomscapes, whereas 2022’s Doom Classes Vol. 7 pushed their sound into new rhythmic territory. Now, with lineup modifications behind them and the addition of guitarist Pete Snasdell, Cosmic Reaper have expanded their twin-guitar assault and doubled down on their dedication to the cult of heavy steel.
Frontman/guitarist Thad Collis describes the file as each an evolution and a return to roots: “Bleed The Depraved, Drown The Damned is an album we poured our hearts into. We wished to take our sound to a brand new degree, but in addition name again to the roots of doom, with a contact of 90s angst. Lyrically, it touches on every thing from standing as much as tyranny, to revenge, to sacrifice, to like, lust, and betrayal — all wrapped in themes of horror, science-fiction, and historical past. For the very best listening expertise: mild one up, and switch it up loud.”
Bleed The Depraved, Drown The Damned was recorded and blended by Blake Hobson at Sense 2 Recording Studio and mastered by Esben Willems at Studio Berserk. Pre-orders can be found right here.
