    Jonathan Mayers, Co-Founder of Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, Dead at 51

    Jonathan Mayers, the co-founder of Bonnaroo and Exterior Lands, has died on the age of 51, the festivals introduced this week.

    Mayers was a driving inventive power behind the occasions, two of North America’s most beloved music festivals. He co-founded Superfly Leisure and helped launch Bonnaroo in 2002, which rapidly turned a mannequin for community-driven pageant experiences.

    Six years later, Mayers helped deliver Exterior Lands to life in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the place his mix of creativeness and element reworked the area into one of many Bay Space’s high music festivals. From the whimsical bridge on the Lands Finish stage and the Ranger Dave statue, his imaginative and prescient formed the pageant’s playful ethos.

    “His creativeness knew no bounds, and his dedication to pleasure and surprise formed the spirit of this pageant in methods too quite a few to rely,” Exterior Lands wrote in a tribute on Instagram. “Greater than something, we’ll miss his unwavering dedication to bringing individuals collectively, his ardour for pushing boundaries, his infectious giggle, and his capability to faucet into the inside youngster in all of us.”

    A reason for demise for Mayers has not but been revealed.

    Bonnaroo’s proprietors introduced they’re honoring the late exec by planting a tree on the pageant’s grounds, colloquially known as “The Farm,” in his reminiscence. In addition they paid homage on social media, calling him a “inventive power” and thanking him for many years of inspiration. Bonnaroo returns tomorrow, June twelfth.
