KeiyaA, the Chicago-born, New York–based mostly soul musician, singer-songwriter, and producer, has introduced a brand new album. Her sophomore LP is titled Hooke’s Law and comes out October 31 by way of XL. Featured the file is the brand new tune “Take It,” and its moody, low-lit music video is co-directed by Caity Arthur and KeiyaA. Watch it under and scroll down for KeiyaA’s upcoming tour dates.

“An album concerning the journey of self love, from an angle that isn’t all affirmations and capitalistic self-care. It’s not a linear story with an ethical on the finish. It’s extra of a cycle, a spiral—it’s Hooke’s legislation,” mentioned KeiyaA. “With this work, I goal to interrogate and embrace anger and battle, disappointment and dissatisfaction, about not being docile and about rejecting mammyism and conventional expectations of fats black brown and darkish skinned ladies in our communities. I talk about need + longing, about analyzing maladaptive tendencies, battle avoidance – the everlasting relationship with the self.”

Hooke’s Regulation follows KeiyaA’s breakout debut album, 2020’s Forever, Ya Girl, her 2022 single “Camille’s Daughter,” and her full-length stage manufacturing, Milk Thot, that ran in New York. The brand new LP was written, sung, and produced by KeiyaA herself over the previous 5 years, along with her taking part in each instrument on the songs. Additionally included on the prolonged tracklist is the only “Stupid Prizes.”
