Legends of doom and gothic metallic, Paradise Lost have unleashed their riveting third single, “Tyrants Serenade” — a four-plus-minute opus of towering riffs, mournful melodies, and emotional weight that stands as a bleak but lovely new chapter within the band’s storied catalog. The observe seems on their much-anticipated new album, Ascension, due September 19 by means of Nuclear Blast Information.

Vocalist Nick Holmes provides perception into the tune’s thematic depth: “Observing the loss of life of a person, and subsequently, how the transition of seasons evokes fond recollections. The God of Malevolence serves as an inside voice to dismantle these cherished recollections and reintroduces the preliminary anguish of loss.”

Musically, “Tyrants Serenade” sees Paradise Misplaced at their most dynamic — merging crushing, doom-laden guitar tones with sweeping, melodic leads, and pairing Holmes’ signature harsh growls with hovering clear vocal refrains. The result’s an anthem that resonates with each grandeur and grief.

The one arrives alongside a placing visible companion directed by longtime collaborator Ash Pears (Host, Massacre, Katatonia), whose cinematic method amplifies the observe’s darkish romanticism and thematic depth.

Ascension‘s album cowl fittingly options the portray The Courtroom of Dying (1870-1902) by famend British artist George Frederic Watts, which hangs within the Tate Gallery in London. The portray depicts Dying as an enthroned angel flanked by allegorical figures of Silence and Thriller guarding dawn and the star of hope, whereas a warrior surrenders his sword and a duke his coronet, exhibiting that worldly standing provides no safety. The portray’s bleak, prophetic imaginative and prescient embodies Ascension‘s darkish, tormented soundscapes as mournful verses collide with dire, foreboding riffs.

On the report, Holmes continued: “Ascension is a cavalcade of molten distress, a vigorous sorrow stuffed stroll by means of a depraved world of superb triumph and pitiful tragedy.” Pre-orders are available here.
