Steven Drozd says he’s not a member of The Flaming Lips.
The 56-year-old musician introduced his departure in a since-deleted reply to a fan on Threads (by way of reddit). Requested if he was “formally finished with the FLips,” Drozd replied, “They’re finished with me – however we’re not speaking about it. So sure I’m transferring on. Simply hold it to your self for now. OK?”
Since becoming a member of The Flaming Lips in 1991, Drozd has been the group’s musical engine, serving as a multi-instrumentalist and chief songwriter alongside frontman Wayne Coyne.
Drozd had been absent from The Flaming Lips’ live shows in current months, sparking hypothesis about his standing within the band. On the group’s newest run of exhibits, they enlisted AJ Slaughter to cowl his elements reside.
