The New York dance scene has taken one other blow. The Brooklyn Mirage has been scheduled to be demolished, in response to allow filings made with New York City’s Department of Buildings on October 10. As soon as the crown jewel of the town, the Mirage stood as the perfect venue for dance music. After not opening the entire summer season on account of structural issues, they filed for bankruptcy. Now, as many had suspected for months, your complete construction will likely be demolished with out ever opening its doorways.

The demolition allow appears to demolish 32,000 sq ft of construction and can price roughly $1.5million, not a small invoice for a bankrupt firm with a variety of sad collectors. What’s extra, there is no such thing as a timeline for when this demolition will happen or when it is going to be accomplished.

The Mirage has been closed since 2024, following a last-minute cancellation of its 2025 season on account of unresolved allowing points. They tried to renovate the venue; nevertheless, it didn’t go as deliberate. Avant Gardner, the venue’s mother or father, beforehand indicated hopes to revive the house in 2026 and past. This demolition proposal comes shortly after Avant Gardner filed for Chapter 11 chapter, citing liabilities of as much as $500 million in opposition to property of underneath $100 million. In the meantime, two different venues on the property—the Nice Corridor and Kings Corridor—are nonetheless working.

Now hypothesis mounts as as to whether there’ll ever be one other Brooklyn Mirage in that house. The corporate, now led by Gary Richards (Destructo), has promised to return in 2026.
