    Theatre Passe Muraille has introduced the launch of a brand new endowment fund to assist the creation of latest works. The Andy McKim Endowment Fund for New Works shall be formally launched, and the inaugural recipient introduced, at a public occasion at Theatre Passe Muraille on February 2, 2026.

    “The Board of Theatre Passe Muraille is honoured to assist the creation of the Andy McKim Endowment Fund for New Works. Andy’s imaginative and prescient continues to form TPM’s creative identification, and this Fund extends that legacy by offering sustainable, significant assist to artists who’re pushing boundaries and increasing the probabilities of Canadian theatre. We’re excited to have fun the inaugural recipient early subsequent 12 months,” feedback Jeff Chan, Chair of the TPM Board of Administrators.

    The annual fund, first established in 2024, is devoted to supporting modern and socially engaged new Canadian theatre works. Conceived by TPM’s former Creative Director Andy McKim, in collaboration with TPM’s Board of Administrators underneath then-Chair Jim Roe and former Managing Director Régine Cadet, the Endowment Fund has been designed to prioritize the event of latest works. It’s notably necessary on this period of diminished funding out there by commissions and artist-development assets within the theatre sector.

    With founding contributions from the Atkinson Martin Basis, a registered charity established in 1942 that helps to fund social and financial justice tasks in Ontario, together with a big bequest by a long-time theatre patron, the Endowment Fund has been established to offer a sustainable annual dedication that can prolong into the years to come back.

    Andy McKim

    Andy McKim served as Creative Director of Theatre Passe Muraille from 2007 till 2019. Different vital appointments embody:

    • President of the Skilled Affiliation of Canadian Theatres (PACT)/ 2002 – 2005
    • President of the Toronto Theatre Alliance (now TAPA)/ 1997 – 1999
    • Affiliate Creative Director of Tarragon Theatre/ 1985 – 2007

    Over time, he has served as director, dramaturge, and trainer, and is the recipient of many awards and nominations, together with successful two Dora Mavor Moore Awards, and two Edinburgh Fringe First Awards, together with a 2010 Playwrights Guild of Canada Bras D’or Award, which acknowledged his devoted to gender fairness in selling and producing the work of ladies playwrights.

    All through his profession, Andy has demonstrated a dedication to artist-driven creation, community-rooted storytelling, and equitable, inclusive practices.
