WODE Returns In All Their Blackened Misery With New Single “Transmutation”

Manchester’s personal purveyors of blackened fury, Wode, return October 3 with Uncrossing The Keys — their fourth full-length and a assured evolution of their shadow-forged sound. Constructed upon the feral foundations of black metallic and the ironclad weight of traditional heavy metallic, Wode have sharpened their songwriting into one thing leaner, extra intricate, and extra melodically wealthy than ever earlier than.

Whereas steeped in flame and fury, Uncrossing The Keys embraces a broader spectrum of moods. Jagged post-punk and gothic shades bleed into the awful shimmer of “Saturn Shadow”, whereas the instrumental “Phantom” drifts in a dreamlike trance.

Lead single “Transmutation” slows the tempo right into a doom-laden, majestically pensive environment, evoking the somber grandeur of Paradise Misplaced and Amorphis. Elsewhere, “Underneath Lanternlight” channels the anthemic melancholy of Sentenced, its mournful hooks and elegiac melodies hovering above the carnage.

Throughout its 9 tracks, Uncrossing The Keys conjures visions of cursed cities beneath blood-red skies, the place grandeur and decay intertwine. Wode‘s blackened heavy metallic feels without delay commanding and haunted — a banner raised excessive over a desolate kingdom, its edges frayed by time and hearth.

Uncrossing The Keys was recorded and combined by James Atkinson (Carcass, Angel Witch), mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Tribulation, Wolfbrigade, Lucifer), and adorned with paintings by Set33. Followers of Sentenced, Tribulation, Paradise Misplaced, Samael, Dissection, Tiamat, Melechesh, and Rotting Christ ought to take notice.

Pre-orders for Uncrossing The Keys are available here.
